Before each tour, we publish a post for participants with a specific list of items. But today, we're providing a general cheat sheet: what to bring and why.
Summer. Sun. River or lake. Hot weather. Colourful boats. Beauty all around. And there are several hours on the water ahead.
Sunscreen is your best friend
Choose SPF 30 or higher, preferably SPF 50.
Sunlight is reflected off the water, so it's easy to get sunburnt, especially on exposed areas.
Don’t just apply it to the “usual” spots. Remember to cover:
• Toes
• Ears
• The area under the nose and around the nostrils
Headwear
• The ideal option is a Panama hat. It protects your ears, neck, and face
• Baseball caps and buffs are less comfortable
• If you don't have a Panama hat, apply a thicker cream to exposed areas
What to wear
Loose-fitting, breathable clothing is best:
• Thin, quick-drying pants
• Light shirt or blouse on top
Short sleeves are fine. Long sleeves are ideal.
You can also wear swimming shorts. However, take a towel to cover your legs if you need to protect them from the sun.
Optional extras
• Sunglasses
• After-sun cream (especially for the face). This is useful after rafting. It's nice to wash and moisturise your face.
Add a good mood and a readiness for adventure. Voilà! You're gorgeous and fully equipped for kayaking!
